You may be a Rural Generalist or Emergency Specialist looking to develop you skills within Regional and rural medicine. The Katherine Hospital is a non-specialist public hospital that services Katherine and the surrounding region and remote areas. The Hospital has 60 beds and a 24 hour emergency department. The main town is situated on the banks of the Katherine river and has a population of around 10,000 people while the larger Katherine region has a population of just over 24,000. Katherine is well equipped as a regional town with a shopping centre that features a supermarket and many speciality shops. Katherine is on the edge of Kakadu National park which is filled with waterfalls and bush walks. Kayaking through the picturesque Katherine Gorge is a popular weekend activity. What's on offer? 24 month contract Rural Medical Practitioner RL3.1 - RL3.5 - Remuneration Package $182,890 - $236,445 (including salary $159,442 - $206,545) To Senior Staff Specialist Clinician SMO2.1 - SMO2.3 - Remuneration Package $265,627 - $291,433 (including salary $239,920 - $265,395)
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or equivalent and eligible for general/specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Broad postgraduate experience and recent relevant experience in clinical practice. Recognized advanced skills in obstetrics (advanced DRANZCOG), anaesthetics (JCCA) or emergency medicine.
